I have a Nokia 6300 and have a usb cable but to use it, I have to install the driver for it(this in Xp).
As for a Linux distribution do they support mobile connections to Pc?
i have a nokia 6700 classic and mandriva linux and can only tell you what it does on mine,
connect via usb and you will get a few options on your phone,
pc suite – never used it, its for windows
printing and media
(i have digikam installed) allows downloading of pic’s for editing and printing,
digikam is the digital camera and image editor
data storage
allows access to your card for transfer of mp3’s, pics or vids to and from your pc
connect via bluetooth and you get data transfer (using kbluetooth) and bluetooth remote control
no drivers are needed, just install the relevant programs,
the camera is a generic camera and its covered by digikam,
digikam will auto detect it – the rest is easy
your data card is detected as a usb storage device – again no drivers are needed
bluetooth is bluetooth, just pair them up
hope this helps
